We went for a Friday brunch and it was super busy, but the staff got us seated almost right away. That was a fun surprise! Then you order at the counter, so there isn’t a wait for that either. The food was tasty and the coffee was great!

Cute place with a clearly labeled menu for gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan. Many options for all of them. The staff is kind, knowledgeable, and patient with questions about food allergies. I felt very safe eating here with celiac disease and even enjoyed chilaquiles for the first time in 20 years! It was full of flavor and freshness! Fresh squeezed orange juice too! My favorite breakfast I’ve gotten probably ever!

Was super crowded at lunchtime and entirely full with a waiting time of 20 minutes (estimated). I got a turkey sandwich to go. Took about ten minutes. No complaints at all. Was certainly loud inside, so not best for lunchtime discussions. Next time I go I'll pick a between breakfast and lunch time slot. Lol. Good food. Best sandwich I've ever had, no, but great for the area. Might do breakfast there tomorrow. Staff was very helpful for a tourist who didn't know what to do a super crowded place.

This place has it figured out. It is SO busy, and SO worth it. We waited but the wait staff were moving people in and out like a well oiled machine. I was impressed with the gluten free options, the flavors were great. If you eat low glycemic, this is the stop! Healthy and yummy. We will definitely be back.

Full disclosure - you will wait, and it will be worth every single minute. if there's no line, you might be in the wrong place. The efficiency of the front of house staff, from the greeter, to the counter staff, to the expediters, was unmatched in my experience and is likely a large part of their continued success. I'm from (south) Florida and the Cubano couldn't have been better if I had been sitting at a South Beach café. The food was exciting, refreshing, and delicious. Marigold Kitchen is a gem in downtown Madison.

This is my favorite breakfast place in Madison, it’s in a good and convenient location, especially if you want to go to the farmers market, the atmosphere is so good, there are plenty of vegetarian options, and if you time it right then you won’t have to wait long. You order at the counter and get your own water. They bring you your food. A little pricey all things considered, especially once you add gratuity. How much do you add when you order at the counter and have to get your own water? 10%, 15%? I usually do 20% but seems not quite right. They probably include tax in the amount they are calculating the gratuity on. You’ll significantly improve your chances of getting a table sooner the smaller the group of people you go with—2-3 is faster, and if you go just a teeny bit earlier in the morning you’ll get a table sooner too—none of which is not surprising but is helpful.

When you get to the restaurant, you’ll most likely see a line of people out the door waiting to be seated. At a traditional restaurant, this surely would take hours until you get a table. Not at Marigold Kitchen. Waitresses will come by and give you your table number and a menu while you’re waiting. I’d say the line was 25 people deep when we arrived and it took us only a little over 20 minutes to get seated. When you get to the restaurant, you order at the register and the food comes out fast. I got the Huevos Rancheros and my wife got a quesadilla. Both were AMAZING! Fresh seasonal ingredients as well as complex dishes made from scratch make these meals memorable. Portion sizes are also great and you’ll surely leave either full or full with leftovers in your hand. I highly recommend if you see the line, just wait, at least once. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
